Day 4, getting ready to ride

If yesterday was the day of the festival, today was the day of the cleanup! The city's services were at it from about 5:30, cleaning the streets, disposing of enormous quantities of beer bottles and so on.

We went out in the morning to the bike shop, reached an understanding of how we want the bikes set up (GPS mounts, pedals etc.) and agreed that we would come over at 10am tomorrow, ready to ride. The guy who works in the bike shop is a man of few words, even fewer in English but we got there... we are all really looking forward to riding tomorrow!

The bikes are not ideal (hub motor, more setup as city bikes than as tourers), but they'll do the job.

Note: only towards the end of our trip did we discover that Decathlon (a large sports store chain) hires out bikes, which might have been a better option. Also they do sell and buy back!

Another perfect day of weather, which should hold at least for a few days as we head north. Impossible to expect that it will be fine every day, but at least so far so good.
