Perfect weather for riding... we started off in jackets but I soon shed mine as the climbing commenced on the edge of town. Today's ride was mostly on quiet, winding climbs with wonderful views.
On our way out of town we met one of many sheepdogs (mostly Maremma but also some Sardinian Shepherd Dog) that were protecting flocks along the road. The flock of sheep, all with bells attached make quite a noise! The attentive guard dogs are inquisitive rather than aggressive so long as you don't threaten the flock.

There was one short section of busy road (feeding local traffic onto the motorway) but apart from that, few vehicles.
Only a couple of villages en route, but we could see several dotting the other ridgelines.
Nuoro is a busy city, with shopping streets, bars and restaurants and many public buildings. Ross and I have rooms in an old-fashioned apartment building with a classically styled lounge and modern bedrooms and bathrooms.
There was some concerns after Keith took his bike into the bike shop to get the brakes fixed - they told him it would need a complete brake assembly and they would have to get one in from the supplier - this would have thrown our schedule out the window, but Keith and Ross got them to talk to the shop in Cagliari and they talked them through the process to fix the leak (which both Ross and I knew was an easy job). Anyway, it is fixed!
