Day 11, Nuoro to Bono

Another perfect day for riding. Warm, sunny, no wind...

Getting out of Nuoro was a little hectic, but after that the roads were VERY quiet.  The first half of the route was on a minor, partly sealed road. The only excitement was a local Karen who took it upon herself to tell us that we couldn't use the road because it was too dangerous because there was work being done on the road. When we got to the worksite, we had to wait about two minutes for some work vehicles to pass on the narrow road and after that there were no interruptions!

After that there were a couple of LONG downhills on good bitumen and a final steep climb into Bono. We encountered many sheepdogs, either singly or in small groups. They were quite excited to see us! A bit of barking and pacing us. We got glimpses of the castle in the distance which was a fair indicator of distance to go. The climb seems to be a favourite of local road cyclists because we passed about a dozen or so at different points in the descent.

My B&B was very nice, with a charming Japanese host, she operates it with her son.
